PYFA – Evening Concert II

In this richly diverse programme, we begin with one of the great masterpieces of the Romantic
chamber repertoire — Brahms’ Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60. Intense, brooding, and deeply
expressive, this powerful work is often seen as Brahms’ most personal chamber piece.
After the interval, we move beyond Brahms, exploring vibrant sound worlds from the 20th and
21st centuries.
Korngold’s delightful suite Much Ado About Nothing brings Shakespeare’s
comedy to life with charm and colour.
Huw Watkins’ Elegy offers a moment of poignant reflection, before we close the evening with Paul Schoenfield’s Four Souvenirs — a playful and energetic
suite blending samba, tango, Tin Pan Alley, and square dance influences, performed by DUO EKEŠ, who are also the founders and directors of PYFA.
