Gregynog Young Musician Summer Concert

Join us for Gregynog Young Musician’s Summer concert in our beautiful Music Room. Playing for you will be;

IEUAN JONES

Ieuan tours the world regularly with his harp. He has performed in more than twenty five countries, given concerto appearance with some of the world’s leading orchestras.

He began playing at the age of six, was brought up in mid-Wales where he discovered the harp at school.

Following school Ieuan gained a scholarship with Marisa Robles at the Royal College of Music. he is presently a Professor at the college and was awarded a Fellowship in 2016.

ALIS HUWS

Alis is presently the Official Royal Harpist and is a freelance soloist, orchestral and chamber musician.

Last year, Alis was privileged to perform at His Majesty King Charles 111’s Coronation

Alis started lessons with Ieuan Jones before continuing her studies at RWCMD and also oversees.

IVAN CHEREDNICHENKO

Ivan, a cellist, was the overall winner of the Gregynog Young Musician 2023 competition. He is from South Wales and presently studying at the Purcell School of Music and the Guildhall Junior department.

HAFREN YOUTH STRINGS

A newly formed group of young string players in North Powys, beginning in September 2023 and now developing very rapidly. There is a link with the Powys Music Service where some of the students have received taster sessions within their own school, having then moved on to individual lessons and joining this string group.

    Since 2019 Gregynog has been run by a charitable Trust. Our vision is to be Wales’ most welcoming home for nature and the arts. We have a huge amount of work to do to restore our Grade 1 listed gardens and repair the Grade 2 star listed hall. Our grounds are open to everyone, every day and we are run a varied programme of events from Fairy and Halloween Trails to classical concerts in our Music Room.

    We urgently need support both from volunteers and donations and every little helps so whatever you can do to support Gregynog please do get in touch.
