The Davies sisters were committed to progress: and that progressive nature is still the beating heart of Gregynog today.
In 1960 the Hall was left by Margaret Davies to the University of Wales and for nearly 50 years the name Gregynog was part of Wales’ student legends – tales of the cellar bar and the third floor bathrooms were renowned throughout Cardiff, Swansea, Aberystwyth, Bangor and Lampeter. Many of us still go slightly misty at the thought of the times spent here.
Today Gregynog is run by a Charitable Trust, dedicated to ensuring this magical place remains an inspiration today and for generations to come.
In the Trust’s care, Gregynog continues to be a centre for learning and education, hosting conferences and events and celebrating nature and the arts both through our busy programme of activities and our management of the estate. We have a great deal of work to do, but our vision is driven by a passionate love of this very special place …and a desire to see it thrive.
